Majima's Next Adventure: Set Sail in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

The gaming community is filled with enthusiasm after the recent announcement of a new installment that takes an adventurous turn. Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio revealed this captivating side story during the Tokyo Game Show 2024's RGG Summit, showcasing the beloved character Goro Majima in a unique pirate setting.

Entitled Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, this experience offers a fresh narrative that may surprise even the most ardent fans. The plot begins with Majima mysteriously arriving on a remote island, his memory hazy and identity unclear. His encounter with a young boy named Noah marks the beginning of an unexpected journey.

As the story unfolds, Majima finds himself and the inhabitants of Rich Island embroiled in a dramatic pirate attack, featuring epic naval confrontations and a quest for hidden riches. The game's premise is one of the boldest in the Like a Dragon franchise, even when considering the wild escapades from previous titles like Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Like a Dragon: Endless Fortune.

This upcoming game is expected to have a similar scope to 2023's Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Based on the teaser gameplay glimpses presented in the announcement video, the combat system will shift back to its classic real-time action style, stepping away from the recent trend of turn-based mechanics.

Players can anticipate a dynamic combat experience as Majima will have the chance to alternate between two distinctive fighting styles. The 'Sea Dog' approach will showcase his ability to utilize dual swords, while the 'Mad Dog' style may echo his legendary techniques from prior installments like Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami 2.

Set for release on February 28, 2025, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza experience set against the backdrop of Hawaii will be available across various platforms including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, as well as PC via Steam. The game will feature multiple editions, starting with a Standard Edition available in both physical and digital formats. Additionally, a digital-only Deluxe Edition will offer exclusive customization content. For collectors, a physical Collector's Edition will include the base game, Deluxe Edition features, and an array of physical items, including a replica of Majima's signature eye patch.
